TRUTH and
LIGHT
Light is truth, and truth is what we
seek. What I knew of the Bible was based on what others TOLD me it
said - church people and wiccans alike (mind you some Wiccans knew
more about the Bible than some Christians).
But still, I wouldn't want people to think they know me ONLY by
what others SAY about me... Talk to ME, get to know ME... So, I
dared to learn about the Bible... SHOCK... from... the
BIBLE!
"Christian Beliefs are Confusing and Full
of Contradictions"
You've heard it... I've heard it... but this one is painfully
untrue.
The simple truth is that
ALL Christianity and ALL of the Bible can be summed up - Genesis to
Revelation by this:
Jesus created us because He wanted to enjoy us... our fellowship.
He didn't create slaves, he created people with wills. For freedom
to be true freedom, there HAS to be a choice. Adam and Eve proved
they had freewill by choosing to reject the TRUTH that God
gave them.
Even when they didn't obey Him... He didn't kill them, or beat
them (some people think that God is just MEAN), but He clothed them
and forgave them. AND right there the prophecy was given about
sending His Son, Jesus, to bridge the spiritual gap between sinful
man and a Holy God.
ALL of the Old Testament is full of prophesies and specific
illustrations of this promise of the Messiah. And Christ fulfilled
them ALL - came to earth and died on a cross and rose again to show
he had power over sin and hell.
All this time we have freedom to choose. I choose the creator and
lover of my soul. Here is what God says in the Bible:
Dear friends, do not believe every
spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is
how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that
acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from
God.
Dear friends, let us love one another,
for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God
and knows God. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent
his one and only Son into the world that we might live through
him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and
sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear
friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one
another.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the
Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. God is love. There is
no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear
has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect
in love.
We love because he first loved us. If
anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar.
For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot
love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command:
Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
