The Truth is Out There...

What IS Truth? For a long time, what I called, "truth" was just a collection of things I'd heard, read in recent books, mixed with my emotions. Truth was hard to define. I believed what I believed... and I could argue circles around Christians and anyone else that dared debate me, but...

For years I pushed down my own doubts about wiccan beliefs. I told myself it was just the remnants of my pre-wiccan experience resurfacing and would soon be gone again. But it kept nagging at me like a dog chewing on an old bone.

Truth has to be something... ONE thing!. Truth for ME had to be truth for everyone. I've met so many wiccans, pagans, etc., visited so many web sites - and yea, there are things we agree on... there are many things we don't. Some major things. And after pulling out my history book (bleh!) and Bible, some of the major claims of wiccans... just aren't TRUE AT ALL. For instance...

WICCA IS OLDER THAN CHRISTIANITY?

Follow me here... Jesus is the Creator of the world, how can you be older than the creation or creator of the world?!  Hello!? 

John 1:1-12, (excerpt)
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. WICCA IS THE "OLD RELIGION"?

Again, you can't predate the start of the world. When Adam and Eve chose to "discover divinity" and disobey God, they lost their connection with God. While this displeased God, he LOVED them, this WAS part of His purpose. He gave an animal sacrifice, right there, to clothe them (so much for nakedness being appropriate in worship) and promised His son, Jesus as the perfect sacrifice to forever free us from sin and hell. 

So, come on... Wicca isn't THAT old. In fact, as it is now practiced, it's very new - as a wiccan friend of mine just admitted.  Come to think of it... take a look at several dictionaries... I have yet to even FIND the word "wicca" in anything but very NEW ones.

WICCA IS A MORE NATURAL RELIGION

I hate to keep going back to this, BUT followers of Jesus should be the most ecologically concerned people on the planet - since HE CREATED IT... and gave strict orders to be caretakers of it!

Are all Christians wise in this area?  NO..., but I know many wiccans that drive gas guzzling cars, litter, and worse.  The proof of Truth isn't based on the weakness of the humans that believe it... What's TRUE is what the belief IS, what it SAYS and what it's based on... not the failures of someone as they strives to live up to it.

Based on what the Bible says... I say Christ taught the TRUE way.

WICCA IS ABOUT PEACE - AND DOING NO HARM

Talk to 25 people around the world, and you'll get 25 difference "truths" about wicca. I think this "do no harm" thing is a recent smoke-screen used to lure naive kids and teens.  Don't believe me? Check this out!

I've got other news stories of those in witchcraft doing the same, or worse. My witch friends try to tell me that "they aren't following the TRUE path". But like I said... there is NO TRUE PATH in witchcraft - it is sooo many things to soooo many peeps.

And the longer you are into something that "gives you power" - well... they say power corrupts.  IMHO, I think that witchcraft seduces kids with "nice-nice" then once you're bored with that, and want more... and you go for blood.

THERE IS NO HELL, NO SATAN, ETC.

All I can say is use your brain for two seconds and try to prove it.  Is there a voice whispering that in your ear? Well, if that voice is the voice of a demon, what do you THINK it would be saying?! Duh!

To believe something I now want hard facts, and/or authoritative information. What the High Priestess, the Goddess, or anyone says has no more meaning to me than what the Pope might say. Got it? Unless they've been there and back - and present evidence... I can't bet my life on what they say.

Give me the time-tested, solid Bible. It talks more about Hell than it does Heaven, and while Satan goes by many names - some flowery, some dark, He is well described thru-out the whole Bible.  And HERE is something interesting - I can't think of ONE group that ever worshipped him by NAME in the Bible. Seems Satan isn't KEEN on name dropping. He doesn't care if you worship the goddess, your inner-spirit, or NOTHING, he wins as long as your don't worship the God who loved you and died to save you from Hell's eternal flame and torment.

And while I'm on the subject, some of the Bible prophets HAVE been to Heaven and back and it's been described in some detail - even hell.

The bottom line is - if I'm going to be willing to die for what I KNOW to be true... I'll take the Bible over voices in my head any day.  

Mind you... when I put my faith in Jesus, the voices stopped!

THE CHRISTIAN GOD WAS ONCE CALLED "YHVY" AND WAS THE HEBREW GOD OF DESTRUCTION AND CHAOS.  HE HASN'T CHANGED A BIT OVER THE MILLENIA.

Well, some of that is exactly true. God is unchanging (Hebrews 13:8), unlike the face of wicca - which is not only different in every country, but different for every wiccan I know. Talk about chaotic!

You know, it's funny.  What most non-christians think they "know" of God is from what HATERS of God told them... NEVER from the Bible itself or even a strong, loving believer of Christ. So, here are some facts:

The Christian God is also the Jewish God - and His name, "YHWH" or really, "JHWH" (sorry, not "YHVY"). It appears almost  7,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures. And He is HARDLY the "god of destruction and chaos":

The God of Creation  (Genesis chapter 1 & John chapter 1)
Look around you! Even thousands of years after creation things are pretty beautiful. Man has destroyed and brought about chaos when we chose to rebel AGAINST God, but... God is a Creator-God, not destroyer.

The God Who Desires To Forgive - Even Wicked Nations
I just read the story of Jonah again the other day and it HIT me. People forget that the city of Ninevah was WICKED. They were destroying themselves! God sent a messenger to give them an ultimatum... A God who loves to destroy doesn't give warnings! Hello!?  In FACT, Jonah whined and complained because God WAS  going to forgive them - THAT's why he ran away in the first place! JONAH wanted destruction, NOT GOD! - read it for yourself!

So, anyway, they repent and God forgives them. Cool! Some people think that the Hebrew God only loved and cared for Israel and killed everyone else. ...SORRY! That myth doesn't hold up to the FACTS.

Jonah 3:10 "And God saw their (Ninevah) works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not."

Jonah 4:2 "And [Jonah] prayed (complaining because God DID forgive Ninevah) unto the LORD, and said, ...I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and MERCIFUL, slow to anger, and of great kindness..."

The God Who Loves Sinners.
The Christian God is the ONLY god who loves and FORGIVES for nothing the sinner does to earn it. We can't earn it - Salvation is a Free Gift!  The gods of other religions requires self-mutilation, great sacrifice, a never ending, or eternal search for "enlightenment"...

Not God.  His Son, Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for sin - WILLINGLY GIVING HIS LIFE. Yes, God IS love

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
