Clean-Ups
No matter how messy or
clean your neighborhood is, it can always use some help. Look down the street in front of
your house... are there any old wrappers or trash lying around? Then get busy and call
some friends over to help.
Did you know that crime happens
most in neighborhoods that are neglected (that means trashy)! By picking up litter you can
make things better looking, and take a bite out of crime!
Here is what you and your friends should do:
 | Get permission from an adult before you start -- and tell
them exactly what and where you are cleaning. |
 | Start with your own yard. People will think you are silly
for cleaning up every other mess but your own! |
 | Wear bright clothing (bright orange works best). This
will help others to watch out for you as you bend over to pick things up.
|
 | Take a smaller trash bag with you. It's much easier to
carry several small bags one at a time than one big full one! |
 | Wear work gloves, shoes, and long pants. You never know
what you might get into. |
 | Dispose of the trash in the proper manner for your
neighborhood. |
 | Wash your hands and arms fully when you are done. Don't
hang on to those pesky germs you picked up! |
 | Take a look at the wonderful job you did, and thank
God
for giving you the chance to do your part!
